Day 1 Arrival in Cairo
πŸ“ Cairo, Egypt

Your journey begins the moment you land. A Supreme Signature representative meets you before the immigration hall β€” your bags handled, your car waiting. Tonight belongs to you. The Nile is outside your window.

Private Meet & Assist Nile-View Hotel Cairo at Night
Day 2 The Pyramids at Dawn
πŸ“ Cairo Β· Giza

Before the gates open and the world arrives, you are already there. The Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Pyramid of Khafre with its ancient limestone cap still intact, the Sphinx from angles most visitors never reach. Your private Egyptologist walks you through 4,500 years of engineering, theology, and questions that still don’t have answers. Then the Grand Egyptian Museum β€” Tutankhamun’s golden throne, his chariots, the innermost coffin that held a boy king for three thousand years. Most visitors leave wishing they had more time. We give you enough.

Giza Plateau at Dawn Great Pyramid of Khufu The Sphinx Solar Boat Museum Grand Egyptian Museum Tutankhamun Galleries
Day 3 Islamic Cairo
πŸ“ Cairo

A thousand years of Islamic civilization compressed into a single street. Al-Muizz β€” the oldest open-air heritage corridor in the world, its Fatimid gates and Mamluk madrasas unchanged for nine centuries. The Citadel of Saladin, from whose ramparts you can see the pyramids in one direction and Cairo in the other β€” a view most tourists never find. Khan El-Khalili, the great bazaar operating continuously since 1382, where your guide knows which lanes hold the real craftsmen and which are theater.

Day 4 Fly South β€” Karnak
πŸ“ Cairo β†’ Luxor

A short flight south and you cross three thousand years. Luxor was Thebes β€” the greatest city in the ancient world. Karnak: the largest religious structure ever built, 134 columns each 23 meters tall, constructed by 30 pharaohs over 1,300 years. Your Egyptologist takes you through the rooms most visitors walk past. At dusk, Luxor Temple comes alive as the sun drops β€” the Avenue of Sphinxes stretching into the evening light.

Domestic Flight Cairo–Luxor Karnak Temple Complex Great Hypostyle Hall Hidden Opet Temple Luxor Temple at Sunset
Day 5 Valley of the Kings
πŸ“ Luxor β€” West Bank

Cross the Nile before the heat rises and the tours arrive. Sixty-three royal tombs cut into the limestone cliffs β€” their painted walls as vivid today as the day they were sealed three thousand years ago. The Temple of Hatshepsut, built by the woman who ruled Egypt as pharaoh for twenty-two years. The Colossi of Memnon. The West Bank before the crowds is one of the great privileges of traveling privately. Note: We visit the West Bank at dawn when the air is crisp, ensuring you climb the tomb entrances comfortably before the midday heat.

✦ Optional: Hot Air Balloon over the Valley at dawn (+$180/person)

Day 6 The Road South β€” Edfu & Kom Ombo
πŸ“ Luxor β†’ Edfu β†’ Kom Ombo β†’ Aswan

Drive south along the Nile Valley. Edfu: the best-preserved ancient temple in Egypt, arrived by horse-drawn carriage as travelers have done for a century. Kom Ombo: a twin temple on a dramatic Nile bend where the crocodile mummies were found sealed in the walls. Then onward to Aswan β€” calmer, more Nubian, the river scattered with granite islands. A different Egypt.

Day 7 Abu Simbel & Sunset Felucca
πŸ“ Aswan Β· Abu Simbel

Before the day tours arrive, you are already at Abu Simbel β€” two temples cut into a sandstone cliff by Ramesses II 3,200 years ago. The four colossal statues at the entrance are 21 meters tall; they were engineered so that twice a year, sunlight penetrates 65 meters into the mountain to illuminate the sanctuary. The Temple of Nefertari beside it is the finest monument ever built by a pharaoh for his queen. At sunset, a private felucca on the Nile as the granite islands turn gold. Silence except for the sail.

✦ Optional: Abu Simbel by Air instead of road (+$220/person)

Day 8 Philae, Unfinished Obelisk & Nubian Heart
πŸ“ Aswan

The Temple of Isis at Philae β€” reached by motorboat, dismantled stone by stone and reassembled to save it from the rising waters. The Unfinished Obelisk, still lying in the granite quarry where it was abandoned 3,500 years ago β€” more revealing than any finished monument. Lunch in a Nubian home on Elephantine Island: a family, a meal, a conversation that money cannot buy. This is the Aswan that doesn’t appear in travel brochures.

Day 9 Fayoum β€” The Farewell Egypt Forgot
πŸ“ Aswan β†’ Cairo β†’ Fayoum β†’ Cairo

A morning flight back to Cairo, then a drive southwest into a different world entirely. The Fayoum Oasis β€” Egypt’s largest, fed by a branch of the Nile since the Middle Kingdom. The road climbs a ridge and Lake Qarun appears below: ancient, shimmering, 35 kilometers long. Tunis Village above it: a community of potters and ceramic artists perched on a cliff above the water, quiet and entirely unlike anywhere else in this country. An afternoon by the lake. Dinner as the light fades. Then back to Cairo for your final night.

Note: This is a longer, active day of travel starting with a morning flight and followed by a scenic drive to the Fayoum Oasis. We pace the journey carefully, but please expect a full day from sunrise flight to lakeside sunset, returning to Cairo for your final night.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Egypt safe for American travelers?
Egypt is rated Level 2 by the US State Department β€” the same rating as France and Germany. Cairo, Luxor and Aswan are not flagged. Millions of international visitors travel without incident each year. Traveling with a private operator eliminates most of the practical risks independent travelers encounter.
Who exactly meets me at the airport?
A Supreme Signature representative meets you inside the terminal at Cairo Airport, assists with arrival formalities, handles your luggage, and walks you to your private vehicle. You do not need to navigate the airport alone.
How much walking is involved each day?
Most site visits involve 1–3 hours of walking on uneven terrain. The pace is set by your group β€” if someone needs to rest, the Egyptologist adjusts. Comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes are essential. The itinerary is not physically demanding for a reasonably active traveler.
What kind of travelers join these departures?
Most guests are couples and small groups of friends, typically between 45 and 70 years old. American and European travelers with an interest in history and culture. Each departure is a single private group β€” you will not be joined by strangers from other bookings.
Can I arrive a day early or extend my stay?
Yes. We can arrange additional hotel nights in Cairo, Luxor or Aswan before or after your program. Let us know when you inquire and we will include it in your proposal.
What happens if I need to cancel?
The 30% deposit is non-refundable. For the balance: full refund if cancelled 90+ days before departure Β· 50% refund at 60–89 days Β· 25% refund at 30–59 days Β· no refund under 30 days. We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers cancellation.
Are the hotels actually good?
Yes. All properties are genuine 5-star hotels with Nile views or island settings. The ‘or similar’ clause protects you β€” if a listed hotel is unavailable, we substitute an equivalent property and notify you before departure.
How is this different from a standard group tour?
A standard group tour puts 30–50 strangers on a bus together. Our departures are intentionally capped at 12 travelers β€” only those who booked this exact program and date. You have your own Egyptologist, your own vehicle, and your own schedule each day.
